icodaco

iCoDaCo (International Contemporary Dance Collective) is an innovative and forward-thinking intercultural exchange project that continues to evolve within the landscape of contemporary dance. Building on its rich history since its inception in 2012, iCoDaCo 2024-2027 shifts its focus toward the development and implementation of alternative strategies and methodologies that respond to the pressing needs of today's artistic and social realities.

In this new edition, iCoDaCo brings together a critical mass of contemporary dance artists from 12 European countries to collectively forge new knowledge, practices, and methodologies. This collaborative effort aims to enhance sustainability, accessibility, and innovation within contemporary dance, while also expanding the influence of dance knowledge into adjacent sectors and broader society.

Through collective research, co-creation processes, and the innovative use of existing technologies, iCoDaCo 2024-2027 is developing the world's first open-access digital platform dedicated to contemporary dance practices. This platform is designed to foster global cooperation, collaboration, and accessibility in the field of contemporary dance, all while preserving and enriching the physical and experiential aspects of the art form.

iCoDaCo 2024-2027 also addresses sector-specific challenges that some of them were identified during the previous editions of the project. By proposing and implementing solutions that align with the ecological, political, financial, and social realities of our time, this edition seeks to ensure the long-term sustainability and relevance of contemporary dance.

This project not only nurtures innovation within the art form but also strengthens connections between remote geographical locations, reducing the ecological impact of international collaboration. By integrating many artists into the knowledge production, creation, and presentation aspects of the project, iCoDaCo 2024-2027 fosters a new methodology for international knowledge sharing and co-creation, contributing to a more sustainable and interconnected global dance community.

iCoDaCo's commitment to engaging communities, fostering dialogue, and including diverse perspectives remains at the heart of the project, ensuring that contemporary dance continues to be a vital and dynamic force.
