Mate Czako
Mate Czako is a Hungarian artist with a background in acting, physical theater directing, and choreography. He has been working as both a performer and a creator, involved in theatre for over 20 years and dance and choreography for 15 years. When directing or choreographing, Czako approaches it as a design process, working with images and looking for the plasticity of things, the tangibility, and how the audience can engage with it. He wants to find the form for the content that represents it in the most authentic way. Czako has also explored various art forms such as visual art installations, music, short films, or digital games, board games, LARPs, but his primary focus remains on live-performative works where the body and presence play a significant role. He enjoys the spontaneity of improvisation and the closeness of the performers. He likes to bring the performance as close to the audience as possible, enjoys site-specific and site-sensitive projects, creating an ever-present and intimate environment for each show. He values the engagement of the audience and strives to create immersive and participatory experiences, allowing viewers the freedom to decide how deeply they want to engage with the performance.
